Gun Type
The Benjamin Trail XL 1500 uses Nitro piston technology.
A nitro piston gun or gas-piston works in the same manner as a spring gun.
Instead of a coiled spring, it uses a nitrogen-filled ram to power its operation.
Inside the chamber is a nitrogen piston and a nitrogen cylinder.
The nitrogen in the cylinder has been held under pressure already. You can apply more pressure when you cock it.
The pressurized atmosphere is maintained under tension until you pull on the trigger.
When you fire, the gasoline expands and propels your piston forward.
The piston is quickly installed after the air transfer port.
Because the chamber is sealed completely, the compressed oxygen has no other place to go than behind the pellet.
Due to the propellant force generated by compressed air, the pellet is released from the barrel.
(For more information on how nitro piston technology can make gun sport more thrilling, please see this post.
The caliber, which is the internal diameter of the bore in inches, can be measured in millimeters.
(For more on the differences between .177 & .22 and which jobs they do best, see this post.)
It’s a single-shot, break-barrel which means that you can only shoot one shot at a time.
To reload the second shot, you must first remove the barrel.
Single-shot guns allow you to be a disciplined shooter because you must make each shot count.
To make bullet spin, the barrel is made of rifled steel and has spiral grooves in its bore.
It stabilizes pellets, increases accuracy, and enhances the shooting range.
(See this post for more information about air rifle barrels and how to buy them.
Stock
It is made of handsome, hardwood stock that can withstand shocks and impact in everyday life.
Hardwood can also be refinished at anytime, which gives it a long life expectancy.
(For more information on the in-depth comparison of synthetic and wood stock see this post.
This stock can also be shot with either left or right hands.
The stock has dual cheekpieces that are raised on the left and right.
Raised cheekpieces provide a stable foundation for your eyes and allow you to adjust your shot.
The stock's texture grip and forearm add friction to shooting, reduce sweat slippage and increase stability when aiming.
Additionally, the gun comes with a sling swivel-stud that can be mounted to allow you to add a strap to help you carry it around.
The thumbhole stock provides a more comfortable grip for your wrist.
You can rest the stock on your wrist, rather than holding it with your hands.
Stocks with thumbholes work best for varmint-shooters
Bench rest shooting is an option for target shooters who spend much time in a shooting position.
Ammo
Benjamin Trail NP XL 1500 uses.177 pellets to provide its only ammo source.
.177 pellets are cheaper than.22 and/or.25 pellets, and you can purchase hundreds of them for as little as a few dollars.
When it comes to fun plinking and long hours of target shooting,.177 is the best choice.

Loading and Cocking
The gun is cocked:
To begin, turn the gun on SAFE. Next, place the gun at your side. Then, tap the muzzle to expose the breech.
You can place the gun on your upper leg and grab the muzzle.
To perform cocking action, continue to pull the barrel to its limit.
How to load the pellet
With the breech opened after cocking, put the pellet (with the pellet’s nose lying forward) into the breech.
You can then pull the barrel to its original position, until it locks, and you're ready to fire.
Velocity, accuracy and power
Benjamin Trail NP XL can reach speeds of up to 1500 FPS when using an alloy pellet, and 1250 FPS when using a lead pellet.
This gun is extremely fast compared to other air guns available.
These speeds allow the Benjamin Trail NP XL to belong to the magnum category of air rifles.
